Manufacturing Growth & Employment Pattern in India Since 1990s

Any policy regime in themanu facturing sector, especially in terms of investment and technological up-gradation, results into adjustments and re-adjustments of both industry and workforce in the short and long run. The present study addresses the trends and growth patterns of the organized manufacturing sector, how far it is affecting the level of employment in the sector as a whole and also at the sub-industry level, the quality of employment generated and the responsiveness of employment to wage rate and output growth. The study concludes that the reforms in the manufacturing sector though have boosted the manufacturing output,have not been able to fulfill the aims of inclusive growth.
