The known dietary factors most potent in the genesis of atherosclerosis are high blood cholesterol and saturated fats. Adult white Carneou pigeons develop atherosclerosis similar to human atherogenesls. In humans, moderate to vigorous physical activity could bring about the lowering of blood lipid levels as well as increasing the level of high density lipoprotein.- The Effects of Physical Exercise on the Reduction of Atherosclerosis in Pigeons
