Magnesium is the second most abundant intracellular cation present in human body. Magnesium has been shown to have a link with carbohydrate metabolism, being a co-factor for several enzymes as well as in glucose transport across the cell membrane and aid insulin for its secretion at multiple levels, binding with receptor and activation of tyrosine kinase.
