Progressive Education Society was founded on 16th May, 1934 on the auspicious day of "Akshay Tritiya" by Guruwarya Shankarrao Kanitkar and his five teacher colleagues. This educational trust started its functioning with the inception of Modern High School which was initially located in Shaniwar Peth of Pune city. In 1938, Modern High School was shifted to the Shivajinagar area of Pune city. British Government officer viz. Mr. Cameron, after due inspection of Modern High School, appreciated the academic work of it and gave approval to Modern High School from Std. 5th to Std. 11th in one directive. This was a remarkable achievement. Since then the authorities of Progressive Education Society, together with teaching and non-leaching staff members, have worked hard to keep the reputation of Progressive Education Society and its Schools and Colleges.
