There is an increasing evidence for associations between students' attendance and their academic achievement in general. However, it is not clear how it is related to students' motivational behaviours such as, study planning and management, especially in the context of engineering education. This study examines this relationship on a sample of engineering students (N=98). The results showed a significant positive relationship between student attendance and study management and between study planning and study management behaviours. Significant gender differences revealed that female students reported higher levels of attendance and study management behaviours than male students. Further research is required to pursue this initial understanding of motivational orientations of engineering students by tracking their attendance and motivational behaviours over time. Limitations of the current study are discussed and recommendations for future research are presented.Keywords

Problem-Based Learning (PBL) holds the promise of training students to tackle unclear, ill-structured problems and enhance transference of student knowledge from typical classroom activities to real-world design and analysis. The case study was introduced to engineering undergraduates at Central State University, US. The proposed method uses gamification is one of the techniques for implementation to motivate students to participate in the process of learning. By constantly increasing the system complexity, students strengthen their conceptual understanding, mathematical kills as well as problem- solving expertise In previous studies, it has been observed that in most of the engineering courses students face difficulties in solving methodical problems due to lack of theoretical understanding and basic knowledge while solving engineering problems. Problem solving skills are one of the higher-order intellectual skills need to be inculcated to all the twenty-first-century learners. Additionally, professors often assume that problem- solving ability increases by mastering a specific field conceptualization as well as mastering relevant problem solving by encouraging students. At (institution name) in the course EMTL, AC, PTSP, other courses students face difficulties in understanding problem statement and also solve the problems properly. In order to infix the problem solving skills, this research is carried out which uses gamification and scaffolding concept.Keywords

This paper describes about the whole design process (human centred design process) of 'Health Monitoring device' under EPICS (engineering projects in community services). It was initialised in December 2016 by EPICS partnering with "YOUTH FOR SOCIAL WELFARE SOCIETY". The project is designed for our client Mr. Chikile Madhu babu, head of the organisation. "Health monitoring device" can help patients and elderly people to monitor their health condition. The people, who cannot go to hospitals or health camps, can use this device to check their health status. The device is capable of measuring blood pressure, ECG, pulse rate, body temperature and room temperature. It is portable, accurate and easy to use.Keywords

There is a study which concluded that graphic organisers and visual solving includes student performance throughout the engineering education system. By developing this activity the higher order thinking and time management Skills are enhanced by learning the basics of research by finding the visuals and appropriate data for the given topics. This study examines that students are allotted with different topics and were asked to make use of technology to present it visually with less text and solve a problem related to the topic. Topics were changed by students as they were not comfortable with that particular allotted topic. Managing students during the activity, analysis of parameters and evaluation is represented in this paper. Limitations of the current study and recommendations for future research are presented.Keywords

MEAs (Model-Eliciting Activities) are open-ended modelling problems that challenge students to solve complex derivations with realistic applications (Miss Kelsey Joy Rodgers, et all, 2012). . One of the tough challenges, instructor is facing now a days is creating interest among engineering students to solve a derivation, who generally feel it difficult. It is also difficult to engage students in class immediately after lunch. The main aim of this activity is to engage students and create interest among them to derive an equation. In this paper we discussed on how to overcome those problems by using a simple in classroom activity. The method used to carry out this activity is worksheet implementation. Here, the students after participating are expected to show more interest in such regular activities as they found it helpful and also interesting. Positive result is expected at the end.Keywords

Enhancing the regular mode of teaching can bring about a change in the conventional pattern of teaching and learning, in accordance to this statement research was carried out to compare the effectiveness of flipped classroom (A classroom enhancement activity) in contrast to the conventional teaching methods Kuntineemaneeratna, et al, [1] [2016] . Syllabus coverage in an effective manner is a challenge that a lecturer faces while delivering the subject within the classroom, especially when the subject is vast. This pedagogy of blended flipped classroom was implemented on students pursuing their second year of under graduation for the course EM TL (electromagnetic theory and transmission lines). The idea of this pedagogy was to cover the syllabus in an effective manner by making students solve more numerical problems within the classroom. The paper discussed here is a case study on how a classroom enhancement activity like flipped classroom had helped in the syllabus coverage. It was found that blended flipped classroom was successfully implemented, and syllabus coverage took place but, the end exam results were low. However, further research can be carried out to determine the link between syllabus coverage and the end exam result.Keywords
