Application of Two-Way Merge Technique for Arranging Variable Length Class Numbers Consisting of Alpha-Numeric and Special Characters

The characters in the Class Number, according to Colon Classification consists of alphanumeric, and special characters, and varies from one record to another. The problems in using a digital computer for arranging the Class Number in the preferred sequence are considered. A program, using the two-way merge technique, in Autocoder language for an IBM 1401 Computer, has been developed and tested.
