A Study of Library and Information Science Journals Removed from the UGC Approved List

On May 2nd, 2018, the UGC published a list of 4305 removed from the list of approved journals. These 4305 journals include 64 Library and Information Science journals which were removed based on various criteria: failing in meeting the primary criteria of maintaining website with address of the editor(s); and having an overall low score than the stipulated score; questionable/poor quality, etc. This paper examines the removed journals in the subject of Library and Information Science in terms of standing, publisher, subject coverage, past rankings, coverage in the indexing and abstracting databases, etc.
