Emergence of Blog-Impact on Mainstream Journalism

The internet medium gradually turns into major news medium for global audience. Audience confidence on the mainstream media has slowly turned down and the new media is gradually playing an important role. Blogs are considered to be a new genre of journalism that calls attention to personalisation, and reader's participation in content creation. Today, the contents and formats of blogs are widely adopted by mainstream news outlets. This paper examines how the blogging is changing the character of mainstream journalism, and tries to study the viewpoints of practicing journalists towards the blogs and their use reporting.
