Several azo acid dyes with built-in UV-absorber residues (resorcinol, 2, 4- dihydroxy benzophenone, 1- hydroxy benzotriazol sulfonic acid) were synthesised. The structure of the synthesized dyes was fully elucidated by using FTIR, 1H-NMR. In this paper we report the synthesis and application of the Anti-UV dyes on wool fabrics aiming to these new dyes might reduce the undesirable photo - degradation effects of UVR on dyed fabrics and also to prevent UVR reaching the human skin which causes cell damage and skin cancer. Fabrics dyed with anti-UV dyes were tested for color strength (K/S), rate of fading (ÄE) values and fastness properties.
