In the recent past many tall buildings and high rise towers are being built in India. The impact of wind loads are to be considered for the design of these towers on par with steel towers like transmission towers, microwave towers, cooling towers and very tall multistoried building towers. Several failures of structures have occurred in India due to wind. The IS 875 Part-3 deals with wind loads on different types of structures. In the present work, the Gust Effectiveness Factor Method is used, which is more realistic particularly for computing the wind loads on flexible tall slender structures and tall building towers. In this paper frames of different heights are anlaysed and studied

Abstract

In the recent past many tall buildings and high rise towers are being built in India. The impact of wind loads are to be considered for the design of these towers on par with steel towers like transmission towers, microwave towers, cooling towers and very tall multistoried building towers. Several failures of structures have occurred in India due to wind. The IS 875 Part-3 deals with wind loads on different types of structures. In the present work, the Gust Effectiveness Factor Method is used, which is more realistic particularly for computing the wind loads on flexible tall slender structures and tall building towers.
