We have analysed and highlighted an interesting prediction of Subrahmanyam Chandrasekhar that Z = 137 will be the ultimate element that can be artificially synthesised. The heaviest element found till today is of atomic number Z = 122 and atomic mass A = 292. The last possible stable element has, in fact, been a matter of disagreement.
