Piezoceramic (PZT) Patch in Impulse Hammer for Modal Analysis
A novel application of Lead Zirconate Titanate (PZT) patch is explored to measure force imparted by the impulse hammer. It is built using cantilever aluminum with PZT patch. The characteristics of the impulse hammer are measured. Modal parameters estimated by both PZT patch based impulse hammer and that of force transducer are correlated by taking a cantilever beam configuration. The correlation of the performance parameters between the PZT based impulse hammer and force transducer based hammer establishes its potential application in modal analysis.
