The advent of nanotechnology has invigorated many industries and textile industry is not an exception. The present status of nanotechnology use in textiles is reviewed, with an emphasis on improving various properties of textiles. The improvements on the application areas of nanotechnology in textile industry such as high-tech fibres, stay clean textiles, antibacterial textiles, antistatic textiles, textiles that can change colour, textiles protecting UV radiation, flame retardant textiles, textiles healing and nourishing human body are covered.
