Objective: To determine the thermal performance of pin fin and a generalised formula is evolved for accurate prediction of thermal performance under various conditions. Methods: Thermal performance for a pin fin under different combination of heat dissipation, air flow and different material is carried out. Based on the experimental investigation a generalised formula using multiple regression analysis is evolved. Findings: We concluded that copper is best material from thermal performance point of view. Variation of efficiency and effectiveness of fins was also noted. Generalised equation for Ɵ/ Ɵ0 is developed. Novelty: Developing generalised formula through multiple regression analysis method gives accurate prediction of thermal performance under various conditions.
