Objectives: To propose a Dynamic Backbone based Broadcast Technique for sending the safety alert. By using this Technique, the effective utilization of Bandwidth is achieved. Methods/Analysis: A competitive score is calculated based on the Distance and Direction of vehicles. Vehicle’s having more score is elected to relay the safety alert. Findings: Number of Redundant Transmission is reduced and the Bandwidth is efficiently utilized in Vehicular Ad hoc NETworks (VANETs). Conclusion/Application: This paper proposes a Dynamic Backbone based BroadCAST technique (DBCAST) which chooses a Backbone node with the help of a Competitive score. Because, this technique uses Backbone selection which is carried out till the end of the transmission range, it reduces the Bandwidth utilised when comparing with the relaying technique.
