The Himalayan region which was once ful of luxuriant forests with rich diversity of species is presently dwindling at fast rate due to large scale exploitation for fuelwood, fodder, timber and packing cases. The demand for these commodities may accomplished through agroforestry systems well blended with multipurpose forest tree species, horticultural tree species and crops or grasses. There is wide scope of silvi-pastural systems after closing the pastures from grazing. Results of a survey related to existing agroforestry systems along with various constraints and the adaptability of agroforestry systems have been discussed. Economic yield and productivity from agri-silvihorticultural systems was maximum as compared to other agroforestry systems.
