Subscribe/Renew Journal
Tagar (Valeriana wallichii) belongs to family Valerianaceae. It is known for its various medicinal, cultural and ethno-botanical uses. This is a herb which is used in healing many nervous and other physiological problems. Due to great market potential of the plant, it is harvested in uncontrolled way which is causing the decline of the herb from its natural habitat. Presently, its status in nature is endangered thus there is a need for its in-situ as well as ex-situ conservation and propagation. Hence the present study was conducted by putting different trials with different media to develop techniques for appropriate harvesting and cultivation practices for sustainable utilization of this species.
