Evaluation of Seed Source Variation on Different Seed Parameters of Dalbergia sissoo Roxb

The seed samples of D. sissoo were collected from 58 CPTs representing 7 seed sources of U.P. These samples were studied to evaluate different parameters viz. length, breadth, thickness, shape index (l/b ratio), seed weight, viability and germination percentage. Significant variation was observed between seed sources and studied parameters. On the basis of over all performance, the seed sources can be grouped in descending order as Mathura > Etawah > Kanpur > Ramnaghar > Lucknow > Haldwani > Mau. The performance of some CPTswas found poor with low values of viability and germination. Hence, these ePTs must be avoided for future collections. However, seeds from better CPTs could he used for further genetic improvement programmes.
