Advance growth is found to be scarce in areas grazed throughout the year or not grazed at all and prolific in areas grazed only during the cold weather. Breaking up of the soil by cattle probably assists regeneration and fire protection brought about by grazing and the closing of the area to grazing during the growing season assists establishment.
