Work Done on Cenchrus setigerus Vahl in India-A Review

Cenchrus setigerus Vahl as a good forage grass was recognised in 1806. It is referred as bird-wood grass in foreign countries and commonly known as Mota Dhaman or Kala Dhaman grass in the arid regions of western Rajasthan. It is distributed throughout Africa' Arabia and India (Chakravarty' 1966). It was introduced as a forage grass in the United States' Australia and South America from India. Cenchrus type or grass cover (Dabadghao' 1960) is confined to the north west arid and semi-arid regions of the country between 20°-32°N and 60°-80° E.
