Investigation on changes in soil properties owing to conversion of natural forests into mixed and teak plantations were carried out. Observations after 40 years of such conversion, indicate higher loss of soil fertility (organic C, P205 and Mg) under teak plantation than mixed plantation. Initiation of illuviation process was also noted under later. Morphological features, however, remained unaffected. Nonetheless, the study suggests more comprehensive studies on this aspect.
