The purpose of the study is to identify the difference in the perceptions of insurance employees according to their demographic profile such as age, income, length of service and hierarchical level. Structured schedules were used to gather data from 374 employees working in 19 companies of life insurance sector of Jalandhar city of Punjab (India) based on census method. The effect of demographic factors, viz., age, income, length of service and hierarchical level on various dimensions of occupational stressors and health effects of stress was examined through ANOVA. Out of 374 insurance employees of all grades included in this study, 300 were male and 53% were below the age of 29 years. The respondents belonging to the age group of above 29 years experienced more stress than other age groups and the respondents who earned monthly income above 50,000 experienced more stress compared to others. Further, the respondents with more than 5 years length of service and higher hierarchical level predicted high level of stress as compared to other groups. The study also highlights the practical implications based on the results.Keywords

This study aims at examining the antecedents and consequences of occupational stress among the employees of life insurance companies. A sample of 374 life insurance employees was surveyed through a structured interview schedule using census method. Factor analysis was carried out to identify the perceived sources and consequences of occupational stress. The findings reveal that ‘ineffective leadership style’ is the major source of stress, apart from ‘lack of control at work’, ‘poor relationship with supervisor’ and ‘lack of advancement opportunities’. The study also shows that occupational stress has high negative impact on psychological health but have no impact on physical health of life insurance employees. The practical implications for managing occupational stress in insurance sector are discussed at the end of the paper along with the limitations and opportunities for further research.Keywords

The extant literature on leadership imitates the traditional bias of leadership being a male domain. Arising out of a social structure, men assume leadership in organisations while women are often confined to work at home. Women are underrepresented in the leadership ranks across society. Research and the development of strategies to assist corporate women in breaking the glass ceiling are frequent and ongoing. The purpose of this paper is to provide a theoretical explanation for the persistence of the glass ceiling keeping women away from assuming leadership positions. The paper also provides implications of the literature for effective leadership and breaking of glass ceiling. A review of the existing literature was conducted to collect data through professional and academic journals of business and education as well as pertinent web sites. The secondary data available on the paycheck India were analysed. The present study showed that there was an existence of glass ceiling with a significant difference in average salary, designation and industry, which hindered women to be employed at managerial positions. Furthermore, the study revealed that the salary disparity between men and women is constricting over time. Research also showed that women handle emotions and relationships differently than men. Women were often more effective than men as managers since they frequently utilize intuitive and empathetic skills.Keywords

Iris biometrics research is an exciting, broad, and rapidly expanding field. At the same time there are successful practical applications that illustrate the power of iris biometrics, there are also many fundamental research issues to be solved on the way to larger scale and more complex applications.
In this research work, iris recognition has been done using Hough Man Circular Transform (HCT), Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) method. Hough Man Circular Transform (HCT) localize the retina, Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) extract the features of the iris templates and then in the end Genetic Algorithm (GA) reduce the obtained features. The whole simulation is being implement in MATLAB 2010 environment. The performance of the system is evaluated by using with False Acceptance Rate (FAR), False Rejection Rate (FRR) and Recall Rate (RR) parameters.
