Abstract

The last twenty years of economic reforms have demonstrated that growth is a necessary but not sufficient condition for sustained poverty reduction. Sustainable poverty reduction needs access. Access comes from the 3Es (Education, Employability and Employment). This paper attempts to explore how privatization in vocational education can impact the quality and scale of vocational skills development in India. The paper formulates tangible ideas that will enable formulation of scalable mechanisms in overcoming the challenges that the vocational training organizations currently face. It also discusses issues of access, quality, efficiency and value of vocational education across various sectors, education qualifications and age groups.

Abstract

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has gained considerable interest among academicians and business organizations in the past decade. More and more Indian business organizations embrace the practice of CSR under different names such as corporate sustainability, social responsibility, and corporate Citizenship. This paper explore whether CSR should exist and investigate conditions when CSR may produce higher welfare than other public good provision channels. We also explore why CSR does exist with a help of Case Study on Coca- Cola. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is not a new concept, but unfortunately has been defined in so many ways, it is often misinterpreted. In fact it has had 40 years to evolve from a somewhat infant concept to a successful managerial tool to build a company's reputation in the global market arena. CSR means addressing the legal, ethical, commercial and other expectations society has for business, and making decisions that fairly balance the claims of all key stakeholders. CSR in India has traditionally been seen as a philanthropic activity. And in keeping with the Indian tradition, it was an activity that was performed but not deliberated. Why do companies invest in CSR? The reasons are varied: to manage their risk, to recruit employees, to bolster their brand in the eyes of investors and consumers, to ease their supply chains, to save money, to increase their access to capital, to differentiate themselves from competitors and - sometimes - because it's just the right thing to do. The Companies Act, 2013 has introduced the idea of CSR to the forefront and through its disclose-or-explain mandate, is promoting greater transparency and disclosure.

Abstract

Purpose- An employee at one or another phase of life experiences conflict, stress or burnout situation. To overcome these situations, they opt for various measure. The study explores the intrinsic and extrinsic work- life cope- up strategies of B-School faculty members to reduce stress, conflict and bring harmony in day to day life.

esign/Methodology/Approach- The research is based on 39 qualitative interviews with male and female faculty members of B-Schools of Delhi NCR. These were generally Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor with at least two of work experience. Semi structured in- depth interview was conducted and content analysis was used to analysis these interviews.

Findings- The result revels that faculty members adopt different coping strategies to balance work-life commitments. On the basis of content analysis eight themes were formed. These eight themes were split into sub-themes. Over all it was found that opinions disclosed on way of managing both the ends were based on self-efforts and understanding rather on organisation policies.
