Work-Life Balance is an area of concern for organizations and individuals alike. An experiential survey of 75 school teachers and 75 BPO women professionals was carried out. Both the sectors were evaluated on six sub-scales - job autonomy, fairness of rewards, organizational commitment, work exhaustion, perceived work overload, work-family conflict. A composite and sector wise regression analysis demonstrated that organizational commitment, job autonomy and perceived work overload are strong contributors to a sense of balance for an employee. Indian professional is looking for supportive work places that help them manage their multiple roles. This would have a spillover effect on the commitment and low attrition rate and at the same time enhance an individual's Work-Life Balance.References

This study empirically examines the differences in work attributes and intrinsic and extrinsic motivation among four generations (baby boomers, silent generation, generation X & generation Y). Data was collected with the help of an online questionnaire from working executives. Total sample consists of 653 respondents working in different public and private organizations. Data was factor analyzed and ANOVA was carried out followed by Post hoc analysis wherever applicable. Results indicate that generation y prefers to work individually and seeks instant feedback in comparison to the older generation. There is no difference in the preference of workplace flexibility among the four generations. Intrinsic motivation is higher in Silent generation and extrinsic motivation is higher in generation Y.- Neonatal Hemochromatosis – A Case Report

Neonatal hemochromatosis is a rare disease of iron metabolism, characterized by the excess accumulation of iron in the tissues. This occurs in utero and can lead to fetal demise or an infant who presents with advanced liver disease in the neonatal period. We hereby report a case of neonatal hemochromatosis in a 42 week infant who presented at birth with abnormal liver functions with conjugated hyperbilirubenemia, raised ferritin and abnormal imaging studies. The diagnoses of infection and metabolic errors were excluded before the confirmation of neonatal hemochromatosis was made. This diagnosis was confirmed by elevated ferritin levels and extra hepatic siderosis excluding the reticuloendothelial system. Anti-oxidant therapy was initiated with vitamins C and E and intravenous immunoglobulin. The baby demonstrated a positive response and was discharged home with outpatient follow up.Keywords
