The economic efflorescence in hospitality industry has carved Indian market into a favorable investment niche for the global hospitality companies. It is harbinger of huge pool of employment generation in coming years. This has resulted into plethora of Hotel Management Institutes (HMIs) in India. The Industry Integrated HMIs, Central Government Institute of Hotel Management (IHMs), State Government Institute of Hotel Management (SIHMs), Private IHMs and Government Universities offering the Hotel Management Programs are intensifying the competition that has made the web presence for these HMIs almost fundamental. A website is known to be the virtual face of an institute which it presents online to potential students, current students and other stakeholders. The present research study intends to evaluate the websites of Central Government IHMs and State Government IHMs in India. The modified balanced scorecard (BSC) approach is incorporated into the evaluation by taking into consideration four perspectives: technical, user friendly, website attractiveness and academic effectiveness. A set of 80 critical success factors representing these four perspectives is then used to examine the websites. Most of the websites are found to be attractive and user-friendly, however, the results of the study disclose that Academic effectiveness is an area for IHMs' and SIHMs' website improvement as most of the websites lack in providing the adequate information that is considered of academic relevance/ interest. Finally it is suggested that the websites of most of the IHMs and SIHMs need to provide comprehensive details on vital areas such as careers, placements, programmes offered, fee structure, scheme of examination, research and innovations. It is further suggested that, the websites may be designed to be multilingual and have social connectivity too.Keywords

The study of Hospitality, Tourism and Tourists along with their interrelated phenomena has grown many fold over the years. It is clearly visible with growing number of Journals in this domain. Thus, it is evident the researchers in the field have contributed and continue to debate and disseminate information of key as well as application related areas of Hospitality&Tourism. Understanding and reviewing the existing research trends and issues enable not only to explore ongoing thrust areas but also helps in future areas of research pertaining to tourism. Within this increasingly growing sector, more than ever there is a need for the tourism researchers to embrace a disciplined, structured and continuous approach to identifying the trends and issues. To explore these claims, Out of total twenty eight journals pertaining to Hospitality and Tourism, three journals which are general in nature and invite research papers and articles on various topics related to the fields of hospitality travel, and tourism from Taylor and Francis Group have been selected. This study reviews the total number of research papers published in these selected hospitality, travel and tourism journals from the years 2001-2012 (Both Inclusive) that accounted for 846 articles in totality.Keywords

This study aims to undertake the evaluation of performance of the websites of foreign origin chain hotels operating in India. The evaluation is done by incorporating the modified Balanced Scorecard (BSC) approach on four perspectives: technical, user friendly, site attractiveness, and marketing effectiveness. A set of seventy eight parameters are used to examine the sample websites. Most of the sample hotel websites are found to be user-friendly and technically sound. More is needed to be done to make sample websites marketing effective and attractive. Numerous suggestions are proposed on the basis of the results derived to improve website services online focusing on proposed areas of website improvement leading to achieve business goals.Keywords
