In India, genus Funambulus is represented by five species. Jungle Palm squirrel, Funambulus tristriatus (Waterhouse, 1837) is a largest species of the genus classified under the family Scuridae of the order Rodentia. It shows distinct three light longitudinal stripes on the dorsal surface (Photo-1A). Underparts light or whitish. Face, forehead, back and haunches tinged with rusty red. Tail most often shorter than the Head and Body.
