Between January and March of 1912, the "Bread and Roses" strike in the textile center of Lawrence, Massachusetts, captured the attention of the nation. While the strike was sparked by a decrease in pay; the issues of the strike were more complex and entailed conflict over economic power, working conditions, workplace dignity, diversity, and corporate social responsibility. This paper considers those issues both from a historical and current perspective identifying lessons that organizational leaders can use today.
