A new membrane concept based on the quantitative separation of tungsten as chelate complex via the formation of membrane phases has been developed and reported in this paper. Transport of tungsten(VI) ion has been supposed to take place through the ion-channel at equilibrium. The mechanisms of the formation of membrane electrodes and ion-transport have been discussed from several structural aspects and concepts with tannin and cinchonine phase systems for recovery.
