Application of Quaternion Analysis to Find the Astatic Centre of Co-Planar Forces

It is found that the quaternion analysis can be advantageously used in solving certain problems in mechanics of which the following is an example. The notation adopted is that of Gibbs so far as the vector and scalar products are concerned and the expression for the quaternion is taken from Kelland and Tail's Introduction to Quaternions: third edition, p. 37.
