ADAM Smith, the father of economics, is generally credited with being the precursor of supply-side economics with, an emphasis on the invisible hand. The great depression of the 1930s, however, changed this scenario completely and John Maynard Keynes burst on the scene with his vital instrument of the fiscal policy. But times have come full circle and countries worldwide are characterised by periodic tides of liberalisation and privatisation.
