Effect of Solar Eclipse on Some Animals at and near Pavana River Bridge, Akurdi, Pune : A Report

A total solar eclipse of the longest duration in the 21st century was announced to occur in the morning of 22nd July, 2009. As such a study on the effects of that solar eclipse on some animals was carried out at and near Pavana river dam, Akurdi, Pune. Observations were taken ad libitum (Altmann,1974) on some of the animals the day before the eclipse in the evening and the next day from early morning and also the subsequent day in the morning.
