Wind Induced Vibration of a Tall Steel Chimney
Subscribe/Renew Journal
The vortex induced vibration of a 30m steel chimney for wind speed of 168 kmph is considered. A steel chimney of length 30m is modeled as a cantilever structure. The chimney was designed as per IS: 6533 (Part II)-1989 and wind load was calculated as per IS: 875 (Part 3)-1987. Results are compared using STAAD-Pro and results are found to be in good agreement with each other.
