Use of insecticides is indispensable in modern agriculture. However, organochlorine insecticides such as BHC, due to their extremely persistent nature, remain in soils for long periods after application. Since soils form the basis of plant growth and food production, influence of persisting chemicals on these is essential and has been reported earlier.

Abstract

Use of insecticides is indispensable in modern agriculture. However, organochlorine insecticides such as BHC, due to their extremely persistent nature, remain in soils for long periods after application. Since soils form the basis of plant growth and food production, influence of persisting chemicals on these is essential and has been reported earlier.
