This paper reports on a study of the growth pattern of world marine engineering literature derived from the Engineering Information CDROM COMPENDEX published by Elsevier for the period 1969-2005. Determines the rate of growth of marine engineering literature by calculating relative growth rates and doubling time for publications. The criteria on which growth models are to be selected for application to marine engineering literature re briefly discussed. Keywords

The main objectives of the present study is to determine the growth of literature in the field of sociology and the related authorship pattern; value of group co-efficient for collaborative research and geographical distribution of papers during 1999-21003. The study shows that the highest number of papers (86) were published in 2001 and 2003. The number of single author papers is higher at 84% out of a total of 475. The value of group co-efficient (gp) was only 0.16. The degree of collaboration among the co-authors was minimum (0.02) in articles written by five authors and maximum (0.12) in two-author papers.References

The paper presents a study of bibliometric characteristics of scholarly research papers published in ACM Transactions on Information Systems (1989-2006). A total of 295 research papers have appeared during the period. A total of 4685 (average 260.3 per year) citations to the 295 research papers are reflected in Science Citation Index. ThS most prolific authors and authorship trends are identified. The average Degree of Collaboration is 0.837. The vast majority of the papers originated from the North America. The number of two-authored papers is higher than the number of singleauthored papers. Common topics of the papers in information systems include data processing, storage, and use/retrieval techniques, computer-applications and database systems.References
