Abstract

The meaning of home is not just simply constructing four walls and a slab over it. A home or hide-out is one among the basic needs of the mankind and if that home is ultra-modern, luxurious, energy efficient and earthquake resistant then it becomes a sustainable futuristic home.

Sustainable futuristic home is an absolutely innovative and creative design of a smart home that one would love to adore it as his/her dream home.

Today’s pollution is tremendously increasing and it has ill effects on human beings as well as the environment. Day by day harmony between human being and the environment is getting reduced. By using green concept in our building planning, ecological balance between human and environment can be achieved.

Sustainable futuristic home ensures the energy of the light to glow, fan to rotate and the television to be alive through its clean energy solutions. Innovative super-structure design of the sustainable futuristic home facilitates in harnessing the solar energy efficiently by not casting shadows on the other panels and encounters the wind loads effectively to sustain with no worries. Quantities of concrete and other conventional building materials which are a major source of CO2 emission and environmental problems are minimized and building materials which have less embodied energy are utilized in the design of the sustainable futuristic home.

Earthquake resistance is developed by using waste tires and other intelligent damping mechanisms and an attempt is made to attain Earthquake –proofing in a viable and feasible way.

Abstract

Mining and quarrying of natural aggregates which are prerequisites for every construction activity is depleting the natural resources and deteriorating the environment. Degradation of the soil is occurring due to the huge accumulation of solid wastes from industries. Safe disposal and management of these wastes is the prime challenge of the hour. Artificial aggregates are synthesized in the laboratory by the cold bond pelletisation process using Fly-ash, Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag, Ordinary Portland cement, Poly Vinyl Acetate solution, Lathe waste and Ceramics. Aggregate tests were conducted as specified in IS: 2386 and were found to be satisfactory with a replacement by a certain percentage by weight of natural aggregates of same particle size range. Aggregates were light weight and showed less affinity to water. An experimental study was conducted to develop Fast Track concrete mix with these aggregates. A concrete overlay on a flexible pavement is laid to make a patchwork, Vehicular traffic resumed after 5 hours and the patchwork was found to set well and hard. Development of skid resistance, drainage, durability and compatibility studies are yet to be conducted. Canal lining and applicability of these aggregates as railway ballast is the future scope of our study.
