The sedentary business overview is marked by rapidly increasing levels of global sourcing; specifically from low-cost countries and continents. Although many companies across a variety of industries such as Manufacturing, etc. obtain cost savings merely through this sourcing approach, the benefits are generally offset by intricacies connected with the global logistics management. Nevertheless, total supply chain costs may be decreased by global sourcing strategy, typically, logistics and transportation costs have been rising as a percentage of the cost of goods sold. This has developed as a result of increasing fuel prices, the inherent costs of long distance outflow of goods and transportation capacity inequalities – both for domestic transportation in regions like the United Stated of America, and for International Sea and air freight from countries like China and India.

We are observing a rapid growth of Indian logistics industry and it is a business game among several new service providers, technology and infrastructure that will determine whether the logistics industry is capable to assist its customers to reduce their logistics and transportation costs and provide efficient services or not? Regularly changing government policies especially on taxation and governance of service providers are going to play a lynchpin role in this methodology of cost reduction. In India, coordination across various government agencies requires a chain of approvals from multiple officials and ministries which is a big pain causing hurdle for multi-model logistics system. At the SME level, the Indian logistics aim is moving towards reducing the cycle times in order to inculcate value to their customers. Therefore, better practices and strategies are being adopted by companies in order to enhance their decision making process. This paper provides an outlook on these predicaments and issues with the help of primary research done on it; I have also outlined some of the major challenges with the help of secondary information referred from a number of journals, articles and testimonials, and I have suggested some interesting initiatives that some organizations are taking to compete through perfection in managing their logistics system. The methodology adopted in this paper includes an extensive research and review accompanied with the personal interaction and observations with the various logistics relevant organizations.

It is simple to think about the present without accounting the future. Customers desire more goods and services to properly improve their standard of livelihood. The predicament is they make selections about goods and services that have long-term repercussion for the environment. In today’s modern world, organizations need to show accountability. This factor means that they use available resources effectively and efficiently, do not spoil the environment and continuously consider how what they do affects the capability of future generations to meet their needs and wants.
The direction for every organization is provided by its vision. This vision acts as a mentor for everybody within and outside the organization about what they want to accomplish. Many organizations have vision to create and provide a better life for the many people and businesses. To meet this vision companies provides many product and services designed keeping in mind their customers. Every business wants their prices for their Products/Services low so that as many people as possible can afford to buy and use them. However, in establishing low prices many organizations are not willing to sacrifice its principles. To make a business to be sustainable, principles should be strictly followed. Pressure for low and low prices is consistent in any business and to fight with this push, companies need to work strategically to cut costs in terms of other means like Supply Chain Management, Research and development and not merely on reducing the quality and services. Research showed that a business can save up to 5% merely by building an efficient supply chain which can sustain in log-term. In spite of increasing raw material cost and inflation consistently, this 5% can help a business to sustain as long as up to 5 years by offering 1% each year as subsidy to selling price (which can be adjusted from a supply chain kitty) and thereby providing them sufficient time to work towards research and development to find ways for keeping their products and services at low prices by maintaining the same quality.

Third Party Logistics (TPL or 3PL) is a business dynamic of growing significance all over the world. But it is at a growing stage in the world where some domestic and multinational companies are continuously trying to establish themselves in this sector. The prime area of diversity in organizational plan of action is the broader use of TPL service providers who are using advanced information technology (I.T) platforms and integration of supply chain to embellish customer satisfaction with their services. With the outsourcing the logistics operations, organizations can focus on their core competencies and other important areas of organization which cannot be outsourced with other alternatives. This paper is an attempt to provide TPL role in customer satisfaction and how its advancement in I.T helps to win the customer’s trust. The analysis of this paper is conducted by discussing different concepts of supply chain integration, advanced information technology, customer satisfaction, and third party logistics providers, and their aftermath on customer satisfaction with theoretical framework. The paper also reveals that most TPL users are satisfied with the current level of services provided by TPL service providers as it has led to a positive outcome on business. As a result, the usage of third party logistics services is likely to increase substantially in the future and points out opportunities for future research.
Methodology and approach used – This study is focused primarily on the advance information technology usage in the third party logistics service providers to enhance and strengthen the customer satisfaction level. The theoretical framework is analyzed with the different concepts of supply chain, TPL and advanced information technology in TPL. The proposed 3PL research classification framework is based on a comprehensive literature review which concentrates on peer reviewed journal papers published within the period 1990-2010. A series of online surveys are also made which includes importance of TPL in business, level of service provided by TPL, main reasons for outsourcing, and overall satisfaction with their services etc.
