An Robust Series – Loaded Resonant DC – DC Converter for Rechargeable Batteries

The advantages of resonant converter, includes high efficiency, minimum number of devices, ease of the control scheme, low cost and low electromagnetic interference. This converter is attractive for high-voltage and high-power applications such as electrostatic precipitation, medical diagnostic, plasma processing etc. This paper develops high efficient battery chargers with an improved series loaded resonant DC-DC converter for high-power renewable energy harvesting. Operating equations and operating theory are also developed. To demonstrate the feasibility of this solution, a high-voltage, high-power prototype is assembled and tested with positive performance and similar behavior to the predicted by the models. Experimental results are shown on this particular.
