With the development of multiple services on Internet the dominant Internet congestion control scheme queue management becomes challenging task. Packets are dropped at very rate during the time of heavy congestion. Because of this, the Internet Engineering Task Force recommends the usage of explicit congestion notification, active queue management as a means to prevent packet loss. In this paper the active queue management algorithms such as RED, BLUE, ARED, REM, PI and MNEWQUE are examined.  One to one comparisons are made and performance is shown using network simulator.
