Image fusion refers to the processing and combination of images obtained from various sensors. The aim of this survey paper is to highlight the various techniques proposed for fusing the images in remote sensing applications. Techniques used were pixel level fusion technique , Multi-Resolution Analysis-based Intensity Modulation (MRAIM), bilinear resampling wavelet transform, Image fusion and Mosaic technology, ARSIS concept, discrete wavelet transform (DWT). Algorithms are also put forth for the above mentioned techniques that help us to analyze the result qualitatively. Each study case also brings to light the results accomplished by the recommended techniques applied to valid data. Image fusion is applied for monitoring areas with complex morphological structures such as classifying intra-urban land cover, heterogeneous forested areas and identifying landslide scars.

Each study case also brings to light the results accomplished by the recommended techniques applied to valid data. Image fusion is applied for monitoring areas with complex morphological structures such as classifying intra-urban land cover, heterogeneous forested areas and identifying landslide scars.
