In order to further improve the stability of surrounding rock in a large section roadway, detection recorder YTJ20 is used to detect the scope of fracture zone in this paper. The results show that the mainly fracture zone was distributed to the roof and two sides, and the scope of fracture zone in the roof, the front of 103 open-off-cut and the back of 103 open-off-cut is 2.3 m, 1.94 m and 2.5 m, respectively. It mainly due to the rock strength is different between the roof and floor. According to the detect results, the parameters of bolt-anchor has been determined in this paper, the length of the bolt-anchor is 2 m, the diameter of the bolt-anchor is 18 mm, and array pitch is 800 mm, the gap distance is 950 mm. In order to analyze the stability of surrounding rock after supporting, the numerical simulation model was built using the software FLAC. The results suggest that after supporting with bolt-anchor in 103 open-off-cut, the plastic zone in the section has been reduced to 40%, the results were demonstrated to be correct by a field experiment. And the bolt-anchor technology controlled the damage of surrounding rock effectively, and improved the stability of surrounding rock.
