Green Synthesis of Quinoxaline Derivatives

The objective of present research work is to provide green technique for synthesis of 2,3-diphenyl quinoxaline. Quinoxaline derivatives are well known in the pharmaceutical industry. A simple, highly efficient and green procedure for the condensation of α-phenylenediamine with α-diketones in the presence of catalytic quantity of iodine. Thevery mild reaction conditions, the high yields of the products, and the use of water as solvent make this methodology an efficient and green route for synthesis of quinoxalines derivatives.
