This paper highlights issues related to gender diversity like the glass ceiling faced by women in organizations. Gender diversity is vital to ensure success in todays knowledge economy. Contended is that firms that want fresh ideas, strong growth, positive company image, fewer discrimination lawsuits, and enhanced ability to hire qualified workers should be aggressive about gender diversity. When females are not represented they cannot have a say in policy making and decision making. Also they would not get a chance to sit in recruitment boards or mentor other junior females which would multiply the vicious circle, argue the authors. Keywords

During the previous two decades Indian economy has shown a tremendous improvement due to emergence of various knowledge based industries. In such industries, firms recognize people as a key resource to gain competitive edge over their peers. Many firms, especially in Information Technology (IT) sector, view their employees or human capital or human resource (HR) as their most valuable assets and invest heavily on them. Many Indian IT firms voluntarily disclose much more information about their human resources than is mandatorily required by the Indian regulations so as to reduce information asymmetry between the insiders and the outsiders regarding their human resources (Jindal&Kumar, 2012). This study measures the extent of voluntary HR disclosures done by selected listed Indian IT firms in two stages. In the first stage, a 33 items voluntary HR disclosure index was developed based on a detailed review of voluntary disclosure indices used in the existing studies of HR disclosures of firms (Jindal & Kumar, 2012; Murthy&Abeysekera, 2007; Abhayawansa&Abeysekera, 2008) and also based on best practices followed by a few Indian IT firms (Infosys, Wipro etc.). In the second stage, a detailed content analysis of annual reports of twenty firms which were part of CNX IT Index as on Jan 8, 2014 was performed using a CAQDAS software to check the variability/presence or absence of all the Voluntary HR Disclosure Index code items. The results of this study shows that Indian listed IT firms (a) provide loads of information about several aspects of 'Training and Development programmes for Existing/New Employees'; (b) provide little information on such crucial matters such as 'Human Resource Valuation', 'Compliance with Employment and Labour laws', 'Geographical distribution of employees', 'Information regarding Employee Commute, Travel', 'Medical insurance/reimbursement' and 'Termination Benefits'.Keywords

The purpose of the paper is to find out the dimensions of customer service in supply chain management (SCM) of small and medium enterprises of Jammu region. The paper used the empirical analysis in which convenient sampling techniques is used. In which a sample size of 50 has been taken from the business to business firms both in terms of suppliers and customers orientation. After the collection of data the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) is used to find out the different dimensions of the customer service in the supply chain management of small and medium enterprises. The paper finds different dimensions which help to improve the customer service in supply chain management which includes the customer segmentation, customer relationship, customer service strategy and service quality both in terms of customers and suppliers in business to business chain of the firms. The research is carried out in a small sample size and more over the customer service frame work of only business to business firms were find out which includes only the immediate customers and immediate suppliers of the firms. The propose system is a usable aid for decision making. The paper proposes an original approach to customer service orientation in SCM of small and medium enterprises that will change the decision of investors. Keywords

Experimental investigations have been carried out to study the behaviour of basic type of coated electrodes (IS:E614514 HJ, AWS: E7018,DIN: E5144B 1026) of different sizes produced by different manufacturers for evaluation of process stability, weldment mechanical properties and diffusible hydrogen content .Time analysis, voltage analysis and current analysis have been carried out using an 'Analyser Hannover'. This is a digital measuring and analyzing system. The time analysis does not indicate any definite trend so results have been interpreted on the basis of voltage and current analysis. The experimental results reveal that the arc stability has no definite trend for the electrodes produces by a particular manufacturer. However, relatively better arc stability is associated with the electrodes of particular manufacturer depending upon the size of electrode. The melting rate (gm/J) increases with the increase in the electrode diameter. The mechanical testing of the weldments indicate that all the electrodes which have been used, confirms to the IS, AWS, ISO and DIN standards i.e. they met the quality and requirement of the code. Higher impact strengths are associated with the electrode which yield low diffusible hydrogen contents.
