Explains the different types of subject entries in a dictionary catalogue. Examines the problems involved in the application of Chain procedure for deriving subject entries for dictionary catalogue. Discusses the modification to the rules of chain procedure suggested by Coates Ranganathan and Job. Concludes that since the human mind expects some kind of logical sequence, subject entries in a dictionary catalogue have to display some element of classified arrangement of a purely alphabetical sequence.
