Knowledge has always played an important role in the development of human advancement. In earlier epochs, this role developed mostly around spiritual and religious beliefs. On the material side, it was restricted to meeting the elementary needs of living. As society progressed, science and technology took ischolar_mains, and human needs enlarged. Creation and adoption of knowledge became an essential pre-requisite of such societies.
