The book highlights the evolution of Power Sector reforms in India and restructuring the Power Sector for Sustainable Development. Power sector being one of the most important sectors for economic growth yet it is one of the major sectors to contribute for environmental damage since coal is the primary resource for power generation used since ages. Power sector for sustainable development needs optimal exploitation of various resources, energy security and giving attention to socio-environmental factors. The book highlights the evolution of power sector through various reforms; non-conventional methods for rural electrification; identification and ways to address issues in generation, transmission as well as distribution of energy; redefinitions to legal and regulatory frameworks which would eventually lead us towards better pathway for Sustainable Development.
