Brief Background:Fractures of the mandibular angle are common injuries requiring open reduction and internal fixation to reconstruct a normal occlusion.Material and Method: 21-year-old male with history of road side accident sustaining bilateral mandibular angle fracture managed by lag-screw augmenting plate fixation on right angle and a single plate fixation on left angle region.
Discussion:Current treatment protocols of angle fracture involve rigid fixation. In oblique angle fractures that have a more transverse orientation, the lag-screw can be use to supplement plate fixation and can augment the rigidity of the plate fixation when used in this way. Conclusion: There are equally successful different methods of plating mandibular angle fractures that use different technology with establishment of the patient’s pre-injury occlusion and function.
