Abstract

In this paper an edge fed planar inverted F antenna (PIFA) for LTE high band applications. The proposed antenna covers wider bandwidth from 2.78GHz to 3.94 GHz. Edge feed mechanism is used in the proposed structure by which wider bandwidth is achieved. The dimension of patch is 14×16mm2 and of ground plane is 36×16mm2. The dimension of patch, shorting plate, feeding plate are optimized using CST software to get optimum results and is presented in this paper. As this antenna is very compact in profile, has good performance, low cost and light weight, due to all these advantages it is suitable and can be easily incorporated as an internal antenna in mobile phones and in other portable device.

Abstract

Background/Objectives: Tremendous growth in the mobile communication services in this technology driven era has made possible for the people to exchange information (data, voice or image) with each other while they are on the move. These wireless systems have brought a revolution in the current market for their high data rates and performance enhanced features. Methods/Statistical Analysis: One of the key issues affecting the performance of a wireless channel is the random variations in the signal strength which may be resulted due to some obstructions like buildings, trees, etc. or due to the movement of the mobile user. This leads to stochastic behavior of the radio channel.. A highly faded Two-Wave with Diffuse Power (TWDP) environment is discussed along with hybrid diversity combining technique. The effectiveness of this scheme is further evaluated by analyzing the system performance in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) vs Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) and Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK) modulation techniques were employed. Findings: It has been shown clearly that TWDP forms the poorer link when compared with other fading channels as BER is higher in this case. Moreover, TWDP fading environment can serve as the worst case scenario in wireless communication system. Also it has been shown as the diversity order increases system’s performance is improved in terms of BER and reduction in SNR requirement to achieve a constant BER value. Application/Improvement: This paper presents the need to obtain a clear perception of channel characteristics and to model a system for combating fading and improving the system performance by considering a TWDP fading channel instead of Rayleigh channel while designing a wireless communication system in worst channel conditions..

Abstract

A novel compact microstrip Band Pass Filter comprising Hewlett-Packard logo shaped patch is proposed in this paper. The filter structure is able to achieve 2.4 GHz central frequency which can be used for Wireless fidelity (WLAN) and the short range devices such as Bluetooth applications. The simulation is performed on CST Microwave Studio. The dielectric substrate used is FR-4 with thickness 1.6 mm. The structure shows good return loss and filter characteristics.

Abstract

Background/Objectives: This paper presents various possible structures of Mixed Carbon Nano Tubes bundle which consists of different topology of Single Wall Carbon Nano Tubes (SWCNTs) and Multi wall Carbon Nano Tubes (MWCNTs). Methods/Statistical Analysis: It is assumed in this paper that SWCNTs and MWCNTs are densely packed. An equivalent single conductor model is derived for all the bundles of Mixed CNT. Findings: Performance is analyzed by considering parameters like Propagation delay, Power dissipation and Crosstalk delay of the interconnects having different lengths. Applications: Carbon Nanotubes finds applications in many fields such as biomedical applications, air and water filtration, structural applications etc.

Abstract

Background/Objectives: The paper caters to the need for multi banding of Micro Strip Antennas (MSAs), that has been well recognized as one of the major research issue in antenna engineering in 21st century. Methods/Statistical analysis: Wireless applications, supporting multiband standards have put new demands on antennas related to bandwidth, gain, size and efficiency. Recent efforts by several researchers around the world to achieve multiband geometry have led to an emergence of new and innovative antenna designs which are presented in this paper. Findings: This paper gives a comprehensive review of various techniques to design compact, multiband planar antennas for wireless devices and applications. The theoretical concept to achieve multi frequency antenna along with related issues for designing have been generally and briefly discussed. Especially, the design examples, some of which are published in literature are presented for the illustration purpose. Recent techniques like EBG/AMC, SRR/CRR, FSS and DGS have also been included in this review. Application/Improvements: These antennas find their extensive use in different wireless applications in the field of communication, medical stream and satellite communication. The innovations in technology have been presented which includes improved antenna designs using better techniques for enhanced performance in the respective fields.

Abstract

Objectives: This paper explains about the staircase antenna with characteristics of ultra-wide band (UWB). The design of proposed work describes stairs along the radiating patch with micro strip feed. Method/Statistical Analysis: The projected ultra-wide band antenna is designed and simulated using High Frequency Simulation Software (HFSS). Findings: The simulation and Measured result of the antenna prove that it has a good impedance matching over the UWB frequency range from 3.5 - 10.4GHz. The VSWR is less than 2 for entire operating frequency range. This antenna finds its uses in WiMax and Wi-Fi without interference. Stair Case patch design is chosen to get ultra wide bandwidth and strips are introduced to get band notch characteristics. Applications: The proposed antenna is suitable for its use in WPAN applications and for short range communication.
