Abstract

Objective: Evaluate the use of financial analysis tools in SMEs as a mechanism to achieve higher levels of competitiveness. Methodology: For the analysis, a quantitative research was applied, which a Lickert type survey applied to 40 busines spersons from the city of Barranquilla, selected intentionally, supported and who voluntarily and covered by the law of habeas data participated in the research. Recommendation: The concluding observations indicate that SMEs have not been using financial planning mechanisms, which largely corresponds to the levels of training of business leaders. The reflections also suggest that it is important to bring SMEs closer to the promotion and training organizationsin order to achieve results that are more favorable. Conclusion: In the final part, it can be said that SMEs grow largely thanks to the intuition of their leaders, but not because of organized financial planning, which can lead to scenarios of uncertainty or loss of resources.

Abstract

Objective: This article analyses the factors that influence the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in Colombia, taking as a reference the last major survey carried out on this type of enterprise in the first quarter of the current year. Methodology: A descriptive/quantitative research is proposed for the study, based on the figures provided by the National Association of Financial Institutions, which in partnership with organizations such as Bancoldex, Confederation of Chamber of Commerce, Bank of the Republic and National Guarantee Fund, interviewed 1454 micro entrepreneurs between January and March 2018. Recommendations: The information presented here allows us to project a scenario that is conducive to strengthening the business sector and suggests in particular that we continue to encourage formalization channels. Conclusion: SMEs continue to be a very significant component of the country’s economy, and initiatives to strengthen and sustainably promote them must continue to be promoted in the city.

Abstract

Objective: Evaluate the current situation of product innovation in Colombian SMEs, to analyze opportunities for improvement that may arise in these organizations. Methodology: A descriptive/quantitative study was carried out; the population was made up of SMEs from the city of Barranquilla. The sampling was carried out intentionally, 55 selecting companies with the following inclusion criteria: employees between 20 and 50 persons, companies with 3 to 5 years of operation. The instrument applied was designed under a Likert scale and validated by Alfa de Cronbach. The tabulation and analysis of the information was done in SPSS version 23 to facilitate interpretation. Recommendations: The information gathered suggests the importance of motivating product innovation, as companies do not currently promote this category at a higher level. Conclusion: For SMEs, there is a great opportunity for growth to the extent that product innovation is embraced, although it is a process that requires more time, investment and space, it is a relevant aspect to grow in competitiveness.

Abstract

The globalization has managed to forge the integration in many scenarios, starting from the economic scopes until arriving at others as the arts, the education and the health, to point out some. This reality has resulted in changes that have not always unfolded as the communities or stakeholders would have first estimated. Thus, the solidarity economy that had its genesis in the need to contribute to the formation and recovery of the social fabric has been impacted by the phenomenon in question and the generation of public policies, which are fundamental for the social and economic development purposes of any territory. Objective: To analyse the role of current public policies and their influence on the solidarity economy in the department of Córdoba between 2004 and 2017. Methodology: For the proposed study, a mixed methodology was proposed that combined qualitative and quantitative approaches and tools, since in this way it was possible to approach the subject from the different aspects of it. Findings: The data compiled make it possible to assert that, although there is a greater dynamic and commitment since the public exercise; these efforts have still been insufficient. Application: In order to make the solidarity economy more dynamic in the department, public policies must be better structured and the periodic monitoring and evaluation needed to achieve the expected goals must be encouraged.

Abstract

Objective: Analyze what the challenges are for small entrepreneurs and formulate possible lines of action in order to promote growth in organizations. Methodology: In order to achieve the general objective, a qualitative method is proposed that relies on the revision of the literature of the last five years in both the English language and the Spanish language. Findings: SMEs should focus their efforts on training, sustainability and technologies in order to achieve higher levels of competitiveness. Application: The SMEs of the Caribbean coast have great potential to grow in the coming years, requires the commitment of all stakeholders to achieve a better situation in the region.

Abstract

Objective: Conduct a detailed review of the soft skills contributions to early math learning. Methodology: A qualitative/ interpretative method was applied that took as a technique the revision of documents for the extraction of contributions derived from research in the last 15 years. Findings: Soft skills should be fostered in all educational settings, because with the constant changes in educational and productive settings it is necessary to give the individual more resources for their integral development. Application: The soft skills apply to promote the learning of subjects such as mathematics, as they promote a dynamic interaction between the child and knowledge which can give results in the short, medium and long term.

Abstract

Objectives: This article aims to establish the importance of communicative competences in the research processes developed by Higher Education Institutions (HEI), starting from the fact that the objective of all scientific research is the handling of relevant and irrefutable information. Methods: To this end, various concepts on this subject and the conclusions of the analyses will be analyzed. Findings: In the end, the advantages of good management of communication skills for the development of scientific research projects are related to the detriment suffered by this process when the student does not perfect these language skills. Application: It is estimated that this type of initiatives should be stimulated since they can make possible the impulse of the investigation, differential factor to raise the level of higher education.

Abstract

Introduction: The growth of the productive activity at world level has generated great concern for including in the engineering activity new alternatives that favour the sustainability of diverse sectors. Analyze the various alternatives for power generation that can implement industries and their advantages. Methodology: Qualitative/explicative study, which, supported by a literature review, gathers information from the last five years, to give shape to a document that is easy to consult. Findings: The study derives a range of alternatives that can contribute to business plans and all stakeholders in the energy issue. Conclusions: There are several options that each organization currently has to explore in energy issues; each industry can be guided by the alternative that according to its social purpose can offer the best benefits.

Abstract

Objective: Analyze the different ways in which Information and Communications Technology (ICTs) linked in a micro economy succeed in expanding strategies for the creation of commercial projects and their national and international dissemination. Methodology: In order to achieve the proposed objective, a qualitative methodology was proposed which, based on a documentary review in both the English and Spanish languages, extracted the most relevant aspects in order to respond to the subject matter under study. Findings: The poorest communities in Colombia experience a series of ignorance’s in the use of ICTs, represented by misuse, affordability and/or inexperience for the incorporation of these new mechanisms in lifestyles, therefore, ICT-focused education should be promoted. Application: The ICT training will be crucial to drive new business and commercial dynamics; therefore, its relevance takes on great significance in the processes of impulse to overcome poverty, an aspect that should be promoted in all educational instances.

Abstract

Objective: Today, one of society's problems is based on the influence of technology, particularly the Internet, on the daily activities of human beings, which, among other aspects, persistently faces the effectiveness of a State's normative system in the protection of human rights. To analyze the legal criteria that protects the right to privacy of every person in Colombia. Methods: We propose a review of the literature involving the reflections of the case, in order to establish a suggested position for the treatment of the right of the parties in the face of possible conflicts. Findings: Incorporate training processes for people who turn to the courts as part of some process that contemplates their fundamental rights. Application: It is almost impossible to differentiate, regulate and limit the information circulating on the network, since there are no parameters or guidelines that create effective filters that on a large scale purify the Internet or ICTs from negative information, so things being the case, the bodies responsible have a great challenge in providing control mechanisms for this type of event.
