Abstract

This paper is concerned with the theoretical transient treatment of pressurized thick-walled hollow spheres subjected to arbitrary boundary and initial conditions. The basic thermoelasticity theory under generalized assumptions is used to solve the thermoelastic problem. The transient one-dimensional temperature is analyzed by the method of the separation of variables, generalized Bessel function and Eigen-function method. The relations obtained in this paper can be applied to any arbitrary boundary and initial conditions. Some numerical results for the temperature change, displacement and thermal stresses distributions are shown in figures. The values used in this study are arbitrarily chosen to demonstrate the effect of time on the distribution of displacements and stresses.
