Informal forestry literature in India has been collected for over a century. The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (lCFRE) possesses around 2.61akhs of documents, classified into 3,600 files as per ODC System of classification. This paper highlights the importance of the documented forestry grey literature to research and its contribution in completing bibliographies of important forest tree species. It has also been planned to preserve these invaluable documents as per archival norms and capture them digitally on computer storage media viz. hard disks, CD-ROMs etc. for instant use of the forestry research workers and professionals.- Propagation of Teak by Root Grafts

A non conventional technique of propagating teak clones by grafting a ischolar_main from one or two year old seedling On a flowering branch, in order to get flowers and fruits in the next one or two years, has been developed and described here. The technique is simple and has been found to yield high success The technique has been described along with its special advautages. The scope of this technique haa been indicated in the end.- Polyembryony in Teak

Present study was undertaken to determine the stage at which the emptiness develops in teak fruits and to find out the possible reasons for it. Effects of factors like fertilisation of ovules, site age of the stand and skeletoniser attack were considered. It was found that in early stages teak fruits have a ovule in each of the loculi. Emptiness develops at the stage when the endocarp hardens due to heavy lignification in those loculi which have ovules in watery stage. The sizes of the loculi and the seeds are also determined at this stage. The emptiness is not related to the size or the loculi. Reserve food material accumulated during past growing seasons is utilised in seed formation . Site, which affects the availability of food, has significant effect on emptiness and should be taken into account while raising seed plots and orchards. Skeletoniser attack and the age of the stand (over 20 years) have no significant effect on emptiness.- Extraction of Teak Seeds from Fruits, their Storage and Germination
